Funeral services to celebrate the life of Donald R. "Donnie" Morrison, 37, a resident of the Mount Vernon Developmental Center, formerly of Port Washington and Newcomerstown, were Dec. 12, 2008, at the Ourant Funeral Home, Newcomerstown. Rev. Sue Koenig, pastor of the Schoenbrunn Moravian Church, New Philadelphia, conducted the services. Burial followed in the Salem-Union Cemetery, Port Washington. Following the graveside services, Donnie's family and friends had a bereavement luncheon and fellowship at the Fry's Valley Moravian Church, Fry's Valley Road, Clay Township. He passed away early Saturday morning, Dec. 6, in the Knox Community Hospital, Mount Vernon.

Donnie was born in Coshocton on July 23, 1971, and is survived by his mother, Judith R. Thornton Morrison Jones of Washington Township, Newcomerstown.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley M. Morrison of Port Washington, who passed away in 1986.

Donnie attended the Starlight School and Workshop, New Philadelphia, and the Fry's Valley Moravian Church, Clay Township. He enjoyed participating in outdoor activities, listening to music, and watching television.

In addition to his mother, Donnie is survived by two brothers, Lonnie D. Thornton and S. Scott Morrison, both of Newcomerstown; two sisters, Alesia E. "Lisa" (Michael J.) Decker and Kay L. Morrison, all of Port Washington; nieces, Samantha Thornton of Newcomerstown, Amber and Ashley Decker, both of Port Washington; great-niece, Alexia Shuler of Port Washington; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family is requesting that memorials be made in Donnie's name to the Fry's Valley Moravian Church, 594 Fry's Valley Rd., SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
