Graveside funeral services for James M. Worthington, 79, of Newcomerstown, were April 30, 2009, at the West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown. Charles Newell officiated the services. Military services were conducted by the Newcomerstown Veterans' Honor Guard. The Addy Funeral Home in Newcomerstown was in charge of arrangements. He passed away April 23 at the Coshocton County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 17, 1930, in Coshocton, the son of the late Paul James and Hazel R. (Fortune) Worthington.

He was a 1948 graduate of Newcomerstown High School and a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War.

Mr. Worthington retired from Clow Water Systems of Coshocton in 1991 after 35 years and also Bank One of Newcomerstown in 1996 after 20 years.

He attended the Church of Christ of Newcomerstown.

He was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary - Thomas C. Montgomery Post 431. He enjoyed house painting and watching television, especially the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, the Buckeyes and old Westerns.

On June 27, 1965, he married Arminda E. (Forney) Worthington, who survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Rod (Susan) Worthington and Randy (Lorie) Worthington, all of Newcomerstown; one daughter, Robyn (Toby) Stephen of Fruita, Col.; two step-daughters, Rita (George) Cognion Ziga of Kihei, Hawaii, and Ronda (John) Kenney of Newcomerstown; three grandchildren, Jimmy (Heidi) Worthington, Ryan Worthington and Sammy Nelson; eight step-grandchildren, Shawn (Lindsay), Shannon, Johnnie and Todd Kenney, Tammy (Ed) Rexroad, Arika Stephen, Martha Bayliss and Andrea Ziga; eight great-grandchildren; and two special fishing buddies, Sylvester Young and Steve Dietrich.
