Funeral services for Harold Duane "Turtle" Lawver, 70, of Coshocton, were May 27, 2009, at the Assembly of God, Newcomerstown. Rev. Richard Treat officiated the services with burial in the Coshocton County Memory Gardens, Coshocton. The Addy Funeral Home in Newcomerstown was in charge of arrangements. He passed away May 21 at the Coshocton County Memorial Hospital, Coshocton.

He was born Nov. 15, 1938, in Newcomerstown, the son of the late Roy Curtis and Crystal Ora (McCormick) Lawver.

He graduated from Newcomerstown High School, Class of 1956. He was an athlete, played basketball and fast-pitch softball.

He retired from Clow Water Systems in Coshocton after 30 years.

Mr. Lawver attended the Church of the Nazarene in Coshocton.

On Nov. 23, 1958, he married Sharon R. (Milhoan) Lawver, who survives.

Other survivors include four daughters, Terri L. (Russell) Bailey of Plainfield, Shari Dianne (Kenneth) Campbell of Newcomerstown, Rita Kay (Roger) Buchanan of West Lafayette and Ronda Jean (Gene) Hickman of Coshocton; one son, Thomas Duane (Shelly) Lawver of Coshocton; 11 grandchildren, Valerie Dovenbarger, Joshua Hickman, Christina Horstmann, Ryan Campbell, Stephanie Campbell, Gabriella Campbell, Tommy Campbell, Colton Buchanan, Bradon Buchanan, Despy Lawver and Avril Lawver; one step-granddaughter, Ragan Scher; four great-grandchildren, Jeffery and Brooklyn Dovenbarger, and Avery and Christian Horstmann; three step-great-grandchildren, Ashley, Nick and Sean; one brother, Carl Lawver; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, LaVonne Lawver; three brothers, John, Marvin and Curt Lawver; and two sisters-in-law, Cora and June Lawver.
