Sheila L. Willer, 62, of Newcomerstown, went home to be with her Lord late Wednesday night, May 20, 2009, in the Coronary Care Unit of Aultman Hospital, Canton.

Sheila was born in Stockton, Calif., on July 29, 1946, and is survived by her mother, Katherine Jane Albaugh Hammond of Newcomerstown. She was preceded in death by her father, Alvin L. "Red" Hammond, Newcomerstown, who passed away in 1980.

Sheila was a graduate of Newcomerstown High School, Class of 1964, and was a homemaker for all her adult life.

She was a former employee of Morgan Pharmacy, Newcomerstown, and also the office of the late Dr. George Johnston, Dover, for a few years. Sheila belonged to the Calvary United Methodist Church, Newcomerstown, and was a member of and volunteer for the Newcomerstown Historical Society. Sheila enjoyed working with plastic canvas, studying genealogy, gardening, raising flowers and shopping.

In addition to her father, Sheila was preceded in death by her brother, James William Hammond of Arkansas, who passed away in 2000.

In addition to her mother, Sheila is survived by husband of 29 years, Robert J. "Bob" Willer, Newcomerstown, whom she married Aug. 11, 1979.

She also leaves a step-daughter, Barbara W. Martinez of Columbus; two step-granddaughters, Victoria R. Martinez and Mary E. Alghaith, both of Columbus; a step-grandson, Nabeel I. Alghaith, also of Columbus; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including a special cousin, Jolene Kehl of Coshocton.

Funeral services to celebrate Sheila's life were May 26 at the Ourant Funeral Home, Newcomerstown.

Rev. Chauncey Eggan officiated. Burial followed in the Peoples' Community Cemetery, Oxford Township, Tuscarawas County.

The family is requesting that memorials be made in Sheila's name to the Calvary United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 187, Newcomerstown, OH 43832.
