Graveside funeral services for Deanna Kay Barker, 62, a resident of the Oak Pointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Baltic, for the past few years, formerly of Newcomerstown and New Philadelphia, were June 19, 2009, at the West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown. Pastor Bob Halfhill conducted the services. The Ourant Funeral Home in Newcomerstown was in charge of arrangements. She passed away late Monday afternoon, June 15, in Union Hospital, Dover.

Deanna was born in Crawford County, Ind., on March 9, 1947, and is survived by her parents, Elmer D. "Dee" Belden of Clarksville, Ind., and Almeta W. "Mickey" Sutton Zagorec of New Philadelphia.

She was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School, Class of 1965. Deanna was a Baptist by faith, a homemaker for all her adult life and enjoyed reading. She was employed with Miller Studio, New Philadelphia, for over 20 years before her disability retirement.

Deanna was preceded in death by husband, Johnnie Franklin Barker of Newcomerstown, who died Nov. 15, 1981, and whom she married June 15, 1970. Also deceased are a sister, Joyce Belden of New Philadelphia, and her step-father, Francis Zagorec of New Philadelphia.

Deanna is survived by two sons, Stacie (Nicole Stewart) Barker of Newcomerstown and Dennie G. Barker of Newcomerstown; two grandchildren, Alyssa M. Barker of Newcomerstown and Kai A. Barker of Decatur, Tenn.; a brother, Randy (Kathy Walton) Zagorec of New Philadelphia; a half-sister, Joan (Doug) Longest of New Albany, Ind.; three half-brothers, Steve (Marilyn) Belden, David (Laura) Belden and Ronald (Laura) Belden, all of New Albany, Ind.; her step-mother, Nancy (Mrs. Dee) Belden of Clarksville, Ind.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to thank the administration and staff of Oak Pointe Nursing Home for their care and kindness during Deanna's time as a resident of Oak Pointe.

The family is requesting that memorials be made in Deanna's name to Oak Pointe Nursing Home, 130 Buena Vista St., Baltic, OH 43804.
