Funeral services for Charlotte A. Heifner, 92, of Newcomerstown, were June 26, 2009, at the Christ United Methodist Church, Newcomerstown. Revs. Russell Ham and Ronald Little officiated the services with burial in the West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown. The Addy Funeral Home in Newcomerstown was entrusted with arrangements. She passed away June 22 at the Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Newcomerstown.
She was born Oct. 14, 1916, in Newcomerstown, the daughter of the late Floyd A. and Grace (VanSickle) Rogers.
She was a 1934 graduate of Newcomerstown High School. After high school, she attended business college.
Mrs. Heifner was a housewife and partner in the former Heifner Sporting Goods of Newcomerstown and present partner in the Hampton Inn of Newcomerstown.
She was a life member of the Christ United Methodist Church of Newcomerstown, member of the Order of the Eastern Star - Oriental Chapter and charter member of Mary Magdaline Circle.
During World War II, she served as secretary for John McCoy at National City Bank & Trust.
On Aug. 15, 1941, she married William G. Heifner, who passed away Oct. 8, 1991.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Jean Stewart.
Survivors include two sons, William R. (Sandra L.) Heifner of Gahanna and Robert C. (Deborah DeRing) Heifner of Newcomerstown; and three grandchildren, Alexis J. Carrico of Portland, Ore., and Kirk Von Heifner and Christian Von Heifner, both of New York, N.Y.
