Funeral services for Carol Joyce Gardner, 75, of Newcomerstown, were July 7, 2009, at the Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown. Rev. Robert Millspaugh officiated the services with burial in the West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown. She passed away Friday, July 3 at the Lafayette Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, West Lafayette.

She was born April 27, 1934, in Stringtown, the daughter of the late Wilbur and Dorothy (Malloy) Mobley.

She was a 1952 graduate of West Lafayette High School.

Mrs. Gardner was a housewife and a store demonstrator.

She was also an avid card player, member of TOPS and a former 4-H advisor. Her and her husband enjoyed traveling to the Smoky Mountains with family.

On Sept. 20, 1953, she married Carl F. Gardner, who passed away Feb. 26, 2004.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Wensday and Thorin Burdette.

Survivors include two daughters, Carla (Jeff) Frame of Zanesville and Collette (Shawn) Burdette of Newcomerstown; one son, Carl Steven (Jere Kay) Gardner of Zanesville; five grandchildren, Ryan and Amanda Maple, Ethan and Carly Burdette, and Carl Clayton Gardner; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Judith (James) Wolff of Newcomerstown; and one brother, Dennis (Mary) Mobley of Alliance.

She was cared for by Hospice of Coshocton County and her granddaughter, Carly Burdette, and her fiancé Joe Wilson.
