CRESTLINE -- Robert C. Taylor, 89, of Crestline, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2009, at the Magnolia Terrace, Galion, after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Erie, Pa., on Aug. 12, 1919, to the late Conley and Verna (Hill) Taylor of Newcomerstown.

Bob was an active member of the First English Lutheran Church, Crestline. He graduated from Newcomerstown High School, Class of 1937, and attended Ohio University. He worked on the railroad for a number of years until joining the First National Bank of Crestline. He attended the Ohio School of Banking in 1968 and retired from Buckeye Bank after 38 years in the banking industry. He was a 65-year member of the Arcana Lodge No. 272, F. and A. M., Aladdin Temple and the Order of the Eastern Star, Bucyrus, Ohio.

He married Eleanor E. Morton on Oct. 21, 1939, who survives.

He is survived by his daughters, Barbara (Taylor) and Ned S. Neely of London, and Nancy (Taylor) and Tony Boiarski of Columbus; seven grandchildren, Jeff, Tim, Peter and Chip Neely, Todd, Rob and Jill Boiarski; and nine grandchildren, Taylor, Keith, Garrett, Logan, Ned III, Charlie and Sophia Neely, and Jaden and Zara Boiarski.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Russell "Buss" and Paul Taylor, both of Newcomerstown; and his sisters, May Taylor (Nicodemus Waggoner) and Etta Taylor Barnett, both of Newcomerstown.

Funeral services were held at the First English Evangelical Lutheran Church, Crestline, on June 15, 2009. Pastor Diane Seaman and Rev. Ted Hoffman, Mr. Taylor's nephew, officiated the services.

Burial followed in the Iberia Cemetery, Iberia.
