Robert C. Lashley, 77, Newcomerstown, formerly of Senecaville, went home to be with his Lord on Monday morning, Sept. 21, 2009, in the Riverside Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Newcomerstown, surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was born in Salesville, Guernsey County, on Jan. 18, 1932, the son of the late Charles David and Mary Margaret Potts Lashley. He was a graduate of Senecaville High School, Class of 1949. He then served with the Navy at the time of the Korean War. Robert returned to Senecaville in 1955 and worked on the family farm and became a lifelong dairy farmer. He belonged to the Guernsey County Farm Bureau and was a charter member of the Guernsey County Grasslands organization. Robert had a love for singing and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the Newcomerstown Church of the Nazarene and was a volunteer for Journey's End Ministries, Newcomerstown. Prior to this, he attended the First Baptist Church, Port Washington, where he also taught Sunday School.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a son, Randy Lashley, Barnesville.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene Lashley, Newcomerstown. Also surviving are several children, Mike (Pam) Reeves of Barnesville, Robin (Jon) Morris of Cambridge, Rhonda (Gary) Moore of Zanesville, and Rusty Lashley, Rita Clark and Chuck Lashley, Renee (Scott) Moore of Barnesville and RaeAnn (Jeff) Shepherd, all of Barnesville; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a step-daughter, Tina Lightell of Newcomerstown, whom he raised; step-grandchildren, Jody Applegarth and Fancy VanSickle, whom he also raised; three sisters, Belva Warden of Senecaville, JoAnn Ahrendts of Cambridge and Donna (Herb) Lowry of Senecaville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

To honor Robert's requests, his remains are to be cremated.

No visiting hours will be observed.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be Saturday, Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. in the Newcomerstown Church of the Nazarene, 363 Neighbor St., Newcomerstown. Pastor Wayne Baker will officiate.

Following the memorial service, the family will gather for a meal in the church's fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorials be made in Robert's name to the Journey's End Food Bank, 205 S. River St., Newcomerstown, OH 43832.
