Albert D. "Butch" Blind, 80, of Newcomerstown, passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, at the Lafayette Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, West Lafayette. No services are planned. Arrangements are entrusted with the Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown.

He was born Dec. 24, 1928, in Gnadenhutten, the son of the late Milo George and Cora Belle (Cappel) Blind.

He was a U.S. Army veteran who served from Sept. 25, 1946, until Nov. 29, 1947, with occupational service in Italy.

He retired in 1988 from Alsco of Gnadenhutten after 40 years.

Mr. Blind was a member of the American Legion - Thomas C. Montgomery Post 431, Loyal Order of the Moose No. 1337 and a lifetime member of the VFW at Tuscarawas.

Survivors include a daughter, Beth Blind Ridenbaugh and fiancé Josh Walters of West Lafayette; son, Milo D. (Pamela (Greathouse) Blind of Newcomerstown; grandchildren, Courtney Emig, Andrea Emig, Curtis Blind, Bobbie Rehard and Ashley Rehard; one great-grandchild, Makayla Rehard; sons, Alan Blind of Oklahoma and Jeff Blind of Ohio; daughter, Jada Blind of Ohio; one brother, Russell (Gladyne Beachamp) Blind of Arizona; one sister, Sue Dallacheisa of Newcomerstown; nieces and nephews; longtime companion's daughters, Marsha and Florence Johnson of Cambridge; and other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Lois Johnson; one brother and one sister; and one great-grandchild, Jackson Weaver.
