Rosalie (Van Voorhis) Niccum, 84, of Zephyrhills, Fla., formerly of Newcomerstown, Fresno and Massillon, passed away late Thursday night (Dec. 17, 2009) in the Heartland of Zephyrhills care facility.

Rosalie was born in Coshocton County on March 13, 1925, a daughter of the late Clark W. and Rose Edith Hahn Van Voorhis.

She attended Fresno schools and was a homemaker for all her adult life. Rosalie retired from General Electric (Florida) in 1986 after being employed as an electronics assembler for many years. She attended the Chancey Road Christian Church in Zephyrhills. Rosalie was a member of AAA, and enjoyed traveling and crocheting.

Rosalie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Niccum of Zephyrhills, who died in August 1990. Also deceased are a sister, Geraldine P. Ford; and three brothers, Wilson and Paul Van Voorhis, both of Newcomerstown, and Francis H. Van Voorhis of Massillon; and sister, Mary McQueen of Massillon.

Rosalie is survived by her step-daughter, Virginia (George) Torrance of Spring Hill, Fla.; three step-grandchildren, Connie Swartwood of Brooksville, Fla., Janelle (Michael) McKinna of Blairsville, Ga., and Duane (Stacy) Jeffers of Largo, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew McClish and Timothy McKinna, both of Georgia; a brother, Harold R. (Martha Jane) Van Voorhis of Roscommon, Mich.; sisters, Dorothy Hothem of Coshocton and Alice Morgan of Griffin, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services to celebrate Rosalie's life will be Monday, Dec. 28 at 11 a.m. in the Ourant Funeral Home, Newcomerstown.

Rosalie's nephew, the Rev. Paul Perez, will conduct the services. Burial will follow at the Renner's Church Cemetery, Bucks Township, Tuscarawas County. Visiting hours will also be held in the funeral home on Monday morning, beginning at 10 a.m. and until the time of the funeral at 11 a.m.

The family is requesting that memorials be made in Rosalie's name to the Renner's Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 68, Newcomerstown, OH 43832.
