Funeral services for Sarah I. Sauerbrey, 87, of Baltic, formerly of Newcomerstown, were Jan. 5, 2010, at the Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown. The Rev. Kenneth Hacker officiated the services with burial in the Coshocton County Memory Gardens, Coshocton. She passed away Jan. 1 at the Oak Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Baltic.

She was born July 14, 1922, in Muskingum County, the daughter of the late Wilmer and Ethel Leon (Bradford) Newell.

She was a homemaker and had worked at Moore Enameling at West Lafayette, as well as Alchrome and Simonds Tools, both of Newcomerstown.

Mrs. Sauerbrey was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Newcomerstown.

On Oct. 14, 1939, she married Carl A. Sauerbrey, who passed away Jan. 26, 1977.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra (David) Klausman of Beaufort, S.C., and Mary Leon Kalar of Rockville, Md.; two sons, Timmothy (Rhonda) Sauerbrey of Newark and Thomas (Karen) Sauerbrey of Newcomerstown; twins she raised after the death of her daughter, Bryan and Michelle; one brother, Raymond Newell of Coshocton; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Diane Marilyn Hilliard; three sisters, Ruth McCormick, Leona Art Baker and Mildred Aitken; and an infant brother.
