Funeral services for Mildred Belt Edwards, 87, of Newcomerstown, were May 7, 2010, at the Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown. Pastor Jim Lillo officiated the services with burial in the Community Chapel Cemetery, Newcomerstown. She passed away May 4 at her home in Newcomerstown.

She was born Jan. 23, 1923, in Mundy, W.Va., the daughter of the late Rufus and Georgia (Monroe) Garretson.

Mrs. Edwards worked at Groovefold for several years and was a homemaker.

Her first husband, Virgil W. Belt, passed away in 1946; and her second husband, Cecil Edwards, passed away in December 1999. Others who preceded her in death include two infant children; a son, Roger Belt and his wife, Lois; and five brothers, Lester (Mary) Garretson, Leroy Garretson, Jontie Garretson, Harold Garretson and Glen (Jane) Garretson.

Survivors include three daughters, Virginia (Raymond) Shearrow of West Lafayette, and Betty (Milo) McCune and Ellen Carr Theriault, both of Newcomerstown; three sons, William (Kathy) Edwards, Donald Edwards and companion Leann Gibson and Glen (Ruth) Edwards, all of Newcomerstown; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Hazel Garretson of Port Washington, Louise Garretson of Newcomerstown and Wanita Koch of West Virginia; and special family friend, Debbie Frizzel.
