Harold Eugene Fries, 53, of Newcomerstown, passed away Friday (June 4, 2010) at his home, surrounded by family and friends after a long illness.

He was born Sunday, Oct. 14, 1956, in Coshocton to Betty (Wilson) Fries of Newcomerstown and the late George Fries.

Harold was a 1976 Newcomerstown High School graduate.

He was formerly employed at the Ohio Reclamation and Mining Co. and 4-Acres Pallet Shop.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He could also be seen at the Mud Runs supporting his son and friends. He was well-known for sitting on the front porch enjoying the warm days with friends and family waving at passers-by.

He was preceded in death by his sister Patricia "Susie" Johnson.

On Nov. 11, 1977, Harold married his wife, Dawn (Meckley) Fries, who survives; along with one daughter, Misty Winters and companion Shawn Boyor; one son, Jeremy "Biggie" (Megan Cowden) Fries; two grandchildren, Tiffiany Winters and Jacob Boyer; three brothers, Edward (Connie) Fries of Newcomerstown, Robert (Maria) Fries of Guernsey and Rick (Tammy) Fries of Newcomerstown; two sisters, Penny (Stacy) Cathcart of Newcomerstown and Pam Fries of Texas; five sisters-in-law, Cindy Marker and Terri Meckley, both of Tippecanoe, Debi Breeden of Cambridge, and Patti Free and Ruth (Charlie) Woodby, all of Newcomerstown; one brother-in-law, David Johnson of Newcomerstown; several nieces and nephews; and loyal companion, his rottweiler, Madison Renee.

Funeral services were June 9, 2010, at hte Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown. Pastor Mike Crank officiated.

Burial took place in Early Cemetery, Guernsey County.
