Jon D. "Jack" Dennis, 73, of Newcomerstown, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Newcomerstown.

He was born Monday, Feb. 15, 1937, in Coshocton, to the late Roy W. and Ruth Jane (Sells) Dennis.

A 1955 Newcomerstown High School graduate, he was a steel worker, retired bus driver at Indian Valley schools, and he also drove bus for Newcomerstown and Ridgewood schools for many sporting events.

Jack was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Newcomerstown for 63 years, a member of the church choir, a life member of Elks Lodge 1555 of Newcomerstown, the Newcomerstown Saddle Club and a Farm Bureau member.

Jack enjoyed farming on his farm which he did for almost 50 years.

He married Kay (Gossett) Dennis on Aug. 11, 1958, who survives.

Also surviving is one son, Kevin Dennis of Newcomerstown; two daughters, Kathi King of Zanesville and Rebecca (Bill) Klies of Chicago, Ill.; two grandchildren, Jon Scott Dennis and Mitchell Dennis; mother-in-law, Hattie Gossett Smith of Walnut Creek; and two brothers, Keith Dennis of New Mexico and Danny (Vicki) Dennis of Conesville.

One daughter, Lori Beth Dennis, and infant sister, Sue Diane Dennis preceded him in death.

Services were July 15, 2010, at the Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown, with the Rev. Russell Ham officiating.

Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown.
