Sally Jane Maddox departed for life eternal Monday (August 9, 2010). She was 74.
Sally was born on March 10, 1936, in Salem, Ohio. After graduating from Newcomerstown High School in 1953, Sally went on to attend The Ohio State University. While in college, Sally met her soul-mate, Robert Maddox. Above everything else in her life, Sally loved her family and made sure they knew it.
Never letting her cancer diagnosis get her down, Sally was a true example of positivity and grace in the midst of trying times. She was a fighter and made the most of every day she was given.
Sally lived a life that embodied the word love. She had a genuine interest in other people and always made those around her feel special.
Sally is preceded in death by her parents, Cash and Louise Russell, and her brother, Cash Duane Russell. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Robert; daughter Julie (Eric) Lothes; grandchildren Natalie and Mitchell Lothes; sister Ann Shirk; brother Don (Glada) Russell; sister-in-law Margaret Russell; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were held Aug. 13 at Rutherford Funeral Home, 450 W. Olentangy St., in Powell, Ohio. Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 14, at Powell United Methodist Church, 825 E. Powell Road, with Pastor Larry Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Africa Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to consider memorial contributions to Powell United Methodist Church in Sally's memory.
