Pearl (West) Arnold, 85, of Port Washington, passed away late Tuesday morning, Sept. 14, 2010, in Union Hospital, Dover, following a short illness.

Pearl was born in Uhrichsville on Nov. 24, 1924, a daughter of the late Emmett N. West, who died in 1966, and the late Edna Camp West, who died in 1982.

She was a graduate of Port Washington High School, Class of 1943. Pearl was a homemaker, mother and wife for all of her adult life. She was employed at the former Nickles Bakery, Uhrichsville, for a few years. Pearl was a member of the Strait Gate Baptist Church, Dennison, and enjoyed doing embroidery, landscaping, gardening, and collecting porcelain cats. Together with her late husband, Floyd, she also enjoyed attending pony pulls and garden tractor pulls throughout the area.

Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd D. Arnold, Port Washington, who passed away Nov. 29, 2002, and whom she married on May 29, 1953. Also deceased is a son, Steven F. Arnold of Port Washington, who passed away in 2004. Pearl was the last member of her generation of the West family, as she was preceded in death by her brother and his wife, Lester and Inez West of Port Washington; and her sister and her husband, Doris and Dale Arnold of Uhrichsville.

Pearl is survived by a son, David N. (Rebecca) Arnold of Port Washington; a daughter and her companion, Polly R. Leggett and Don Naylor of Port Washington; daughter-in-law, Cindy L. (Norman) Arnold of Port Washington; five grandchildren, Keith A. Arnold, Brianna Marie Arnold, Belinda Arnold and her companion Terry Lane, Travis Arnold and his companion Becca Naylor, all of Port Washington, and Derek (Holly) Leggett of Uhrichsville; three great-grandchildren, Emma Leggett of Uhrichsville, and Elektra and Jayden Arnold, both of Port Washington; two stepgranddaughters, Brittney and Ashley Naylor of Gnadenhutten; a special friend, Glenn Eagan of Uhrichsville; her special canine, "Tiny," a mini pinscher; her cats; and several nieces and nephews in the Arnold and West families.

Funeral services to celebrate Pearl's life were Sept. 17 at the Ourant Funeral Home, Newcomerstown. Pastor Michael P. O'Guin of the Strait Gate Baptist Church conducted the services.

Burial followed in the Salem-Union Cemetery, Port Washington.

The family is requesting that memorials be made in Pearl's name to the Community Hospice of Tuscarawas, Carroll and Stark counties, 201 W. Third St., Dover, OH 44622.
