ELMHURST -- Lewis Joe Gracik, 88, of Elmhurst, formerly of Newcomerstown, found peace Nov. 15, 2010.

He was the dear husband and true love of Martha Ann Gracik, nee Reynolds, to whom he was married for 65 years.

He was the beloved father of Lou Ellen Rossi, Lynn McKinley, and Russell (Marcia) Gracik. He was the devoted grandfather of Jennifer (Carmine) Grisolia, Sarah (Thomas) Makinney, Molly (Brett) Muchow, Adam and Matt Gracik, and great-grandfather of Cecilia, Nicholas, Lauren, Grace, Beckett, Devin and Russell.

A proud World War II veteran of the United States Army Air Corps and a former prisoner of war, Lewis retired from James B. Clow Corp. where he worked as a shipping foreman.

He was a former minor league baseball player and a staunch Chicago Bears and Ohio State football fan, as well as a devoted spectator of all his grandchildren's sports. The "King of Kidders" was a legendary storyteller, and lover of ice cream, movies, and fast cards.

He was a friend to all who met him, and well respected for his honesty, generosity, and love. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Interment with military honors followed at Mount Emblem Cemetery, 520 E. Grand Ave., Elmhurst.
