Jack V. Ellis, 76, of Newcomerstown, passed away Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 7, 1934, in Crellin, Md., to the late Clyde Ellis and the late Lena (Dumire) Ellis.
He was a 1952 Newcomerstown High School graduate.
He retired from Simonds Cutting Tool in 1998 after 32 years of service and he was also employed at Coshocton Dairy Co-op from 1952-1966.
He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
Jack was active and instrumental in starting the Newcomerstown Adult Softball League. He also coached Newcomerstown Little League, Pony League and high school baseball.
Jack is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Mullen) Ellis, whom he married Nov. 3, 1952.
He is also survived by one son, John (Bobbi) Ellis of Newcomerstown; three daughters, Kathy Ellis and Mary Lynn (Ed) Berkshire, all of Newcomerstown, and Bonnie Jo (Todd) Young of Pataskala; three grandchildren, Spencer Ellis, Clint Berkshire and Patrick Young; two great-grandchildren, Riley Eckelberry and Camryn Hunt; two sisters, Vivian Sharpless and Gretchen Johnson, both of Newark; one brother, Raymond (Carol) Ellis of Newcomerstown; and two sisters-in-law, Gloria Ellis of Newcomerstown and Mary Ann (Frank) Perrucci of Naples, Fla.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Douglas Belt II; and four brothers, Dale, Doran, Ward, and Ivan Ellis.
Services were Jan. 20, 2011, at Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown, with the Rev. Eric Miller officiating. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown.
