LARGO, Fla. John Lewis Buss Sr., 95, of Largo, Fla., passed away Sept. 27, 2011, at the Largo Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 28, 1915, in Stone Creek, Ohio, to the late Walter E. Buss and Maude Arbogast Buss.

He moved to Florida in 1976.

He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Largo, Fla., and past owner of Buss Wilbert Burial Vaults of Newcomerstown, Ohio, for 37 years. He also operated an auto body paint shop in Newcomerstown, Ohio, for 37 years.

He was a past member of the Newcomerstown Elks, Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Moose, Rotary Club, past president of the Chamber of Commerce, Newcomerstown Village Council and Board of Public Affairs, and past president of Ohio Burial Vault Association.

Surviving are his daughter, Frances Dawn Linscott of Largo, Fla.; son, John Lewis (Janet Lucille) Buss II of Newcomerstown, Ohio; son-in-law, William Hall of Tampa, Fla.; brother, Richard Dale Buss of New Philadelphia, Ohio; and six grandchildren, John Curtis Linscott, Julianne Linscott Kallman, Jennifer Linscott Danker, Terri Lynn Hall, Penny Lynn Hurd, John Lewis Buss III; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Essie Joy Hawk Buss; a daughter, Dolly Lou Buss Hall; a sister, Laura Buss Hisrich; and a son-in-law, Chester Linscott.

A memorial service took place at Pinecrest Place in Largo, Fla., on Oct. 2, 2011. A second service will be held in Newcomerstowns West Lawn Cemetery at a later date.
