Donald E. Courtwright, 96, of Dover, formerly of Port Washington and Newcomerstown, passed away Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at Union Hospital, Dover.
He was born Thursday, April 29, 1915, in Low Cap, Coshocton County, to the late Clarence and Leona Jane (Berkshire) Courtwright.
He was a 1935 graduate of Newcomerstown High School.
He retired from Simond Brothers Tool in Newcomerstown after 42 years of service.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Newcomerstown and Strasburg First Lutheran Church.
He was a member of the Moose and Eagles Lodge. He loved to Play Eucher.
On June 11, 1938, he married Marjorie L. (Mobley) Courtwright, who died Aug. 26, 2008.
He is survived by two sons, Gary (Bev) Courtwright of Dover and Terry (Marilyn) Courtwright of Charleston, W.Va.; one daughter, Phyllis Patterson of Plainfield; four grandchildren, Trudy (Fred) Way of Pennsylvania, Tess (Eric) Douglas of Quaker City, Heather (Brad) Presnal of Columbia, S.C., and Kyle (Amy) Courtwright of New Philadelphia; 13 great-grandchildren, Jon, Jarrod, and Jake Pollock, Lucretia Murphy and Courtney Dunlevy, Eric, Colin, Austin and Chloe Douglas, Zane, Garen, and Renner Presnal, Ryan Way; grandson-in-law, Greg Pollock; two sisters, Maxine Smith of Coshocton and Doris Stonebrook of Dover.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tina Pollock; one infant grandchild; and a son-in-law, Larry Patterson; two brothers, Bud and Dean; two sisters, Mabel Loader and infant Edith; five brothers-in-law, Walter Stonebrook, Harry Loader, Harold, Wilber and Kenny Mobley; and three sisters-in-law, Mary King, Dorothy Mobley and Mary Mobley.
Services were Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at the Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown, with the Rev. Kenneth Hacker officiating. Burial was in Fairfield Cemetery.
