Richard William "Dick" Huston, 65, Newcomerstown (Jefferson Township), passed away early Sunday morning, July 22, 2012, in the Community Hospice House, New Philadelphia.
Dick was born in Coshocton on Oct. 24, 1946, and was preceded in death by his parents, Ira A. and Anna P. Paulun Huston, both of Newcomerstown.
He was a graduate of Newcomerstown High School, class of 1964. Following graduation, Dick served a tour of duty in Vietnam with the Air Force. He returned to civilian life and was employed by the village of Newcomerstown as park superintendent for Cy Young Park for many years. Dick enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, and playing indoor disc shuffleboard. He also was an avid NASCAR fan for many years, where Richard Petty was his favorite driver.
Dick is survived by his wife, Corinne L. "Kitten" Briley Huston, Newcomerstown, whom he married Nov. 12, 1971. Dick also leaves three daughters, Annette M. Thuener OF Coshocton, Jacqueline D. "Jackie" (Terry) Reneau of Toledo, and Velvet R. (Curt) Vogel of Coshocton; nine granddaughters; five grandsons; a great-granddaughter, Audrea Everhart of Newcomerstown; a sister; a stepsister; many members of his in-laws, the Briley family; and his two dogs, "Stubby" and Bandit."
To honor Dick's wishes, his remains are to be cremated. No public visiting hours will be observed. Dick's family and friends met for a memorial service and a celebration of Dick's life on Saturday, July 28, 2012. This celebration was held at the residence of Jim and Michele Seldenright, 731 E. State St., Newcomerstown. A memorial fund has been established. Funds may sent to the Corinne L. Huston family, P.O. Box 68, Newcomerstown, OH 43832. The Ourant Funeral Home in Newcomerstown is assisting Dick's family with all the arrangements.
