BELTON, Ky. -- Joseph H. Shalosky passed away Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at the University of Louisville Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Joe was born in Coshocton, Ohio, on March 23, 1951, to Leo and Mary Shalosky (deceased).
He graduated from Newcomerstown High School in 1969 and went on to Kent State University.
Joe was a underground coal miner for over 30 years.
He was formerly married to Tanda Shalosky and had three children, Joe (Penny) Shalosky of Fort Bragg, N.C., Brian Shalosky of Harned, Ky., and Miki (Mike) Durall of Greenville, Ky.; and five grandsons and three granddaughters.
He had six living siblings, Dave (Imogene) Shalosky, Jerry (Darlene) Shalosky, Kenny (Lori) Shalosky, Jeanie (Sam) Billings, Alan (Deb) Shalosky and Claire (Cliff) Cordell.
He was preceded in death by brothers, John and Mike Shalosky; and sister, Rose Dole.
Memorial service and visitation was held at Tucker Funeral Home in Beechmont, Ky., on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014. It was Joe's decision to be cremated. The family will privately disperse of Joe's remains according to his wishes.
The family has asked in lieu of flowers that expressions of sympathy be made to: Aarons Mission Outreach in Joe's honor. Joe was lifelong friends with the founders of the mission and actively supported their efforts in Honduras.
