Miss Jessie N. Burdette, 93, a lifelong resident of Newcomerstown, passed away early Tuesday afternoon, April 29, 2014, in the Riverside Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Newcomerstown.
Jessie was born in Newcomerstown on Oct. 22, 1920, a daughter of the late Elmer Burdette and Nettie Loos Burdette.
She was a graduate of Newcomerstown High School, class of 1939. Jessie enjoyed cooking, baking, and quilting as her favorite activities.
In addition to her parents, Jessie was preceded in death by six sisters, Edith (Mrs. Herbert) Miller, Mary E. Burdette, Virginia (Mrs. Raymond) Little, Betty Burdette, and Marjorie Burdette, all of Newcomerstown, and L. Aldora Cady of Morgantown, W.Va.
Jessie is survived by two sisters and their husbands, Ruth C. and C. Richard Lower and Margaret Ellen and Glenn Shaffer, all of Newcomerstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
To honor Jessie's wishes, no visiting hours will be observed.
Public grave side services and burial took place Friday, May 2, 2014, in the East State Street Cemetery, Newcomerstown. The Rev. R. Gene Whyde conducted the services. The Ourant Funeral Home in Newcomerstown is assisting the family with all the arrangements.
