James Allen "Jim" Postel, 54, a lifelong Newcomerstown resident, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 20, 2014, in the Coshocton County Memorial Hospital.

Jim was born in Dover on July 28, 1959, and was preceded in death by his parents, Terence C. Postel, Newcomerstown, who died in 1998, and Leota V. Hayes Postel, Newcomerstown, who died in 2005.

Jim was a graduate of Newcomerstown High School, class of 1977. He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Newcomerstown, and was employed as a courier for the Huntington National Bank, Newcomerstown, for a few years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and listening to music.

Jim is survived by two sisters and a brother, R. Sue and husband Gary Myers, New Philadelphia, Rebecca Jane "Becky" Beiter, Coshocton, and Michael T. Postel, Coshocton. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jim also leaves one of his best lifelong friends, Bobby Stocker, Dover.

The family would also like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to all of the care givers who assisted Jim during his life, with special mention to caregivers Jeannie Bullock and Brittany Cabot.

Funeral services to celebrate Jim's life were Friday, May 23, 2014, in the Ourant Funeral Home, Newcomerstown. Pastor C. E. Easterday, Jim's cousin, conducted the services. Burial followed in the West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown.

The family is requesting that memorials be made in Jim's name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 3300 East Sunrise Drive, Tucson, AZ 85718.
