Donald Douglas Jones, 75, Port Washington, passed away at his Port Washington residence early Saturday afternoon, Dec. 12, 2015.
Donald was born in Canton on March 20, 1940, a son of the late Eli T. and Janet C. Biery Jones.
He was a graduate of Port Washington High School, class of 1958. Donald was an Army veteran, 1963-65, serving at Ft. Hood, Texas. Following his Army service, Donald was employed in the sales department of Belden Brick, Port Washington, for over 32 years before his retirement. Prior to that he was employed in the sales department of Warner & Swasey, New Philadelphia, for 10 years. Following his retirement from Belden Brick, he relocated to Florida and became active in auctions and sales. While in Florida, he was president and a member of the Homeowners' Association, Lakeland, Florida, and a member of the National Depression Glass Association, the National Cambridge Glass Collectors, the National Tiffin Glass Collectors, the Old Morgantown Glass Collectors Guild, and the West Virginia Museum of American Glass. He also served as a member and president of the Louisville, Ohio Lions Club and was a former member of the EAPG Society. Donald also enjoyed collecting stamps, collecting coins, gardening, and collecting antiques.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Gene Albaugh and Robert Savage, both of Port Washington.
Donald is married to and survived by his lifelong partner, Danny Cornelius, Port Washington.
Donald also leaves two sons, Brenton Douglas and wife Cheryl Jones, Commercial Point, Ohio, and Christopher Ross and wife Shelley Jones, Delaware, Ohio, and their mother, Blace Chambers, North Canton. Also surviving are two grandsons, Graham Jones, Delaware, and Andrew Waybright, currently serving with the Navy, stepchildren Mary Louise and husband Jeremy Haver, Newcomerstown and Jake and wife Cara Cornelius, Bethesda, Ohio; and five step grandchildren. Chase Haver, Newcomerstown, and Ainsley, Annette, Abbigail, and Alliona. Donald also leaves his brother, Thomas E. Jones, Lakeland, Fla.; his sister, Pat Albaugh Savage, Port Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services to celebrate Donald's life will be Dec. 17, 2015, in the Ourant Funeral Home. Glenn Murphy will conduct the services.
Burial will be in the Salem-Union Cemetery, Port Washington, at a later date. The family is requesting that memorials be made in Donald's name to the National Depression Glass Mueeum, P.O. Box 8264, Wichita, KS 67208-0264; or to the Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
