COSHOCTON -- Larry Wayne Heller, 69, of Coshocton, passed away in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016.
Larry was born in Coshocton on April 13, 1947, to the late John and Jean (Bricker) Heller. Larry was a graduate of the 1965 class of Newcomerstown and later attended college for business. He joined the National Guard in 1969 and served in the 214th Light Maintenance Battalion of the Ohio National Guard until he was honorably discharged in 1974.
On July 26, 1975, Larry married the love of his life, Mary Lou (Hill) Heller.
For 27 years, Larry worked at AEP and then went on to work for the Local 495 Union Pipefitters of Cambridge for 10 years. He was a member of the Newcomerstown United Methodist Church and the Elks 1555 BPOE of Newcomerstown. Larry loved to coach and play softball. He was the biggest Yankees fan ever and was known for always having a Coca-Cola in his hand. Larry loved old cars and playing cards with his buddies but his favorite pastime was mushroom hunting.
Along with his wife, Larry is survived by their three daughters, Elizabeth (Stephen) Edwards, Kelly Heller and her fianc Dustin Shock, and Joy Heller and her significant other Devin Smith. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Lily and Evan Edwards; and his two brothers, John Heller of Columbus and Thomas (Bonnie) Heller of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours for Larry will be held at Given-Dawson Funeral Home on Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Armstrong officiating and with the Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard performing military honors.
