Patricia L. "Pat" Welsch, 86, Newcomerstown, passed away early Friday morning (September 16, 2016) in the Aultman Hospital, Canton.

Pat was born on June 5, 1930 in Carrollton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Thomas A. and Zella Duel Shaw. She was a graduate of Newcomerstown High School, class of 1948. In her teenage years, Pat was employed as a model for the former O'Neil's Department Store, Coshocton. She was a homemaker for all her adult life. She was employed for a few years at the former Weather Seal Company, Newcomerstown, Kurz-Kasch, Newcomerstown, and Alsco Aluminum, Sugarcreek. Pat was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, Newcomerstown, the United Methodist Women, and the former Ruth Circle of the church. She was also a former member of the Newcomerstown Historical Society. Pat's favorite activities included dancing, swimming, traveling, and doing word search puzzles. Most of all, Pat enjoyed spending time with her family and arranging holiday and special dinners for her family at her residence. Pat was a very caring person and was always willing to lend her help and support to family and friends who were in need of spiritual and moral support.

Pat is survived by her husband, Jack E. Welsch, Newcomerstown. Pat and Jack were married on August 7, 1948 and recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. She also leaves three children: Teresa J. "Terri" Wright, Dover, Jack T. and his wife Iris M. Welsch, Madison, Virginia, and Jaynise K. "Jai" Welsch and her companion, John C. Ourant, Newcomerstown. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Seth T. Clark, Newcomerstown, Rachel A. and her husband Mark A. Strauss, Williamstown, W.V., Andrew J. Wright, Dover, Lindsey E. and her husband Jake Harvey, Brunswick, Jesse T. Welsch, Virginia Beach, Va., and Brooke N. and her husband Anthony "Tony" Blonde, also of Virginia Beach. There are also six great grandchildren: Kaley E., Allison J. "Alli," Joseph T., and Jack E. Strauss, all of Williamstown, W.V., Dominic C. Wright, Dover, and Levi Doc Blonde, Virginia Beach. Pat also leaves a nephew, Tim Wilt, Beloit, and a niece, Jama Wilt, N.M.

In addition to her parents, Pat was also preceded in death by a brother and three sisters. Also deceased is her longtime faithful canine companion, "Bosco," her Bichon Frise, who died earlier this year.

To honor Pat's requests, her remains are to be cremated. No public visiting hours or memorial services will be observed. The family is requesting that memorials be made in Pat's name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, PO Box 4777, New York, NY 10163.
