Ravin Anderson, 77, of Newcomerstown, died Saturday, February 18, 2017, at his residence. He was born Friday, June 02, 1939 in Shelby Gap Kentucky to the late Eddie Anderson and Ellen (Lester) Anderson. He worked as a coal miner for 22 years and was a skilled tradesman. He had a love for bluegrass gospel music, hunting, fishing, basketball and his loving wife of 57 years. He also loved getting visits from his friends and family. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union. On August 25, 1959 he married Geraldine (Potter) Anderson, who survives. He is survived by his children, Ravanna (David) Surant, Ravin Rocky (Kathy) Anderson, Mark (Willa) Anderson; grandchildren, LeeAnn (Nathanial) Tackett, Rachel (Neal) Supinski, Nikole (Jesse) Buzzard, Whitney Anderson, Chase Anderson, Ali Roberts, Chanon Anderson, Dylan Anderson, Chris Roberts, Fletcher Shryock, Hunter Shryock, Chandler Shryock, Zac (Jackie) Surant, Bella Surant and Diane Stewart; great-grandchildren, Alex Ison, Bryson Anderson, Olivia Buzzard, Blaze Tackett, Adelyn Surant and Jackson Surant; siblings, Clara Meade, Clinton (Alice) Anderson, David (Rose) Anderson, Mary (Frank) Anderson and Anthony (Bonnie) Anderson; sister-in-law, Virginia Anderson and brother-in-law, John Evans. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Gene (Guessie) Anderson, Moscoe (Jeraldine) Anderson, Thomas (Sue) Anderson, Troy Anderson, James (Cookie) Anderson, Glema Evans and Morgan (Brenda) Anderson; brother-in-law, David Meade.

Services were Sunday, February 19 at 6 p.m. at the Churches of Christ in Christian Union in Newcomerstown with Rev. Jim Reed officiating. A visitation was held prior to the service on Sunday, February 19 from 4-6 p.m. at the Churches of Christ in Christian Union. He then proceeded home to Kentucky where a visitation began at 5 p.m. Monday, at Pilgram Rest Old Regular Baptist Church with a church service at 7 p.m. and ending at 11 p.m. The funeral service was held Tuesday, February 20 at 11 a.m. at Pilgram Rest Old Regular Baptist Church.
