George B. Braniger, 84, of Newcomerstown, died Monday, March 6, 2017, at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville, with his family by his side. He was born June 2, 1932, in New Philadelphia, Ohio to the late George Braniger and Althea (Schumaker) Braniger. George was a 1951 graduate of West Lafayette High School. He served in the Korean War in the 25th infantry division as an artillery cannoneer. He was a lifelong dairy farmer and a lifetime member of Isleta United Methodist Church. He was a 4-H advisor for 43 years of the Oxford 4-H Club, Blue Ridge Grange member and officer for 65 years, Dairy Service Board for 50 plus years, Farm Bureau member and served on the Soil and Water Conservation Board for 15 years.

On October 12, 1958, he married Janice (Lowe) Braniger and they celebrated 58 years of marriage. He is survived by her children, Cathy (Bill) Williamson of Warsaw, George (Linda) Braniger of Newcomerstown, Mark (Debbie) Braniger of Galena, Oh. and Mike (Michele) Braniger of Newcomerstown; grandchildren, Davon (Mark) Cutshall, Dan (Mindy) Duncan, Denise (Justin) Lapp, Devon (Jake) Karl, Hank, Nicole and Jacob Braniger; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Memphis, Evan, Brayden, Jakoby, Taytum. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Lewis (Bud) Braniger and grandson, Shawn Braniger.

Services were Friday, March 10, at 12:00 p.m. at the Addy Funeral Home in Newcomerstown with Pastor Dan Eggan officiating. Burial took place after the service at Fairfield Cemetery with veteran service conducted by the Coshocton Veterans Honor Guard. A visitation was held Thursday, March 9, from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the Addy Funeral Home.
