LIMA - Ronald M. Bonnell, 82, passed away January 15, 2019, at 5:45 p.m., at the Lima Convalescent Home.

Ron was born February 16, 1936, in Cambridge, to Chester H. and Mary E. (Moore) Bonnell who preceded him in death. On September 17, 1955, he married Mavis (Couts) Bonnell who survives in Lima, OH.

Ron was a 1954 graduate of Newcomerstown High School. After high school he attended The Ohio State University. Ron had worked in the trucking industry with Commercial Motor Freight for more than 40 years. He then worked for Scott Lad/Roundys until he retired. After retirement he worked in the Sporting Goods Dept. at the Eastside Walmart. Ron was also a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. He also sang in the Lima Bean Barbershop Chorus where he was the assistant director and he sang in various other quartets in and around the Lima area. Ron had served as a volunteer with the Lima Memorial Hospital for many years. Ron loved playing the piano and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by his children: Vicki Lee (Edward) Rufener of Dover, Deborah Kay (David) Sprowl of Greenfield, IN, Gregory Allen (Rebecca) Bonnell of Orient, OH and Douglas Edward (Pamela) Bonnelll of Tomball, TX; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Louise Bonnell.

There was a graveside service on Monday, Jan. 21, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Officiating the service was Rev. John Foster.

Friends may call on Sunday from 5-7 pm at the Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services Eastside Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Lima Memorial Auxiliary, American Heart or Cancer Associations. Condolences may be expressed to the family at M. Bonnell.
