Nc'town Police Chief thanks residents

Dear Newcomerstown citizens:

I would like to personally thank each of you for all the support that has been shown this past year. The police department has suffered greatly in personnel this year starting about August and have worked under-staffed since then. I have been able to put on some reserve officers that have been a great help in learning the community, business owners and the "village frequent fliers" -- as we call them.

My plans are to transfer reserve officers into full-time position in the very near future in order for the police to begin the new year with a full staff. They have already started writing grants for equipment in order to provide the best service and coverage the village deserves.

I do want to thank each business owner that donated or purchased advertisements from LAW Publications and the Officer Phil Program. Both of these programs defer costs from the police in order for us to reach out to the community and schools with literature and educational programs.

The Newcomerstown Police Department is and will continue to provide the best service to the citizens of Newcomerstown. Again, let me say thank you to all for the continued support that is shown and each and every one have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Timothy P. Miller

Chief of Police
