Dress-A-Child 2009 is quickly coming to a close. While the number of qualifying children has increased from last year's 1800 to this year's total of just over 1900 children, the donations for this year have dropped by nearly 50%. Last year each child in the program received $58. This year's children will go shopping starting on August 3rd with close to $27. As any parent can tell you, $27 will not get you very far in the children's clothing department. For this reason, the women of Dress-A-Child are asking for your help. First, any cash donations received by August 1 will be included in the 2009 voucher amount. All contributions should be made payable to Dress-A-Child and sent to Becky Mastin, 1210 Winkler Dr, Dover, OH 44622. Second, volunteers are always needed to help with shopping in August. To volunteer, please call Joann Denison at 330-364-2576 Third, July is Dress-A-Child month. It is still possible to encourage the groups to which you belong to donate monies to the program.Shopping dates for Dress-A-Child 2009 are August 3-7. On Monday, August 3 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Tuesday, August 4 from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. shopping will be at Wal-Mart. The make-up day for all stores will be at Wal-Mart on Friday, August 7 from 9 a.m. - Noon. All children from the same family must shop at the same store, same day, and same time. They must be accompanied by the parent/guardian who completed the registration form. The dedicated volunteers from Dress-A-Child will be at each site to assist in shopping and also to determine if the items selected are appropriate for school wear. As in years past, the Dress-A-Child volunteers will have the final say in whether an item can be purchased with the voucher or not.
