March is Red Cross Month in recognition of the work done by the American Red Cross in communities across the country and around the globe -- and of how we depend on public support to help people in need.

Thanks to support from individuals, organizations and businesses here in Carroll, Harrison and Tuscarawas counties, the American Red Cross is able to respond to disasters both large and small; help members of the military, veterans and their families; provide blood for those in need and teach lifesaving skills.

We want to thank those whose generosity enables us to continue our work, both here at home and around the world. You can help by making a donation, becoming a volunteer, taking a class, or giving blood.

Here in the three-county area, more than 150 Red Cross volunteers responded to 37 local emergencies, assisted 76 military families and trained 4,382 people in lifesaving skills. In addition, people from this area donated 632 units of blood.

To celebrate our mission, we will be honoring our remarkable Hometown Heroes, hosting blood drives and recruiting volunteers. On March 10, we will conduct a special fire safety day by distributing smoke detectors in all three counties.

Red Cross Month is the perfect time to help save the day and to become a part of our mission and assist people in need by making a donation, volunteering, giving blood or taking a class. Please help us help those in need -- please support the American Red Cross. Join us by calling 330-343-8633 or visit www.mlcredcross.org.
