On Nov. 17, the Newcomerstown Ministerial Association had its annual Community Thanksgiving with proceeds going to Journey's End Ministries.

Even with thunderstorms and the threat of tornadoes, we still had over 300 in attendance plus sent home 70 carry-out meals to shut-ins. It was a wonderful evening of fellowship and thanksgiving with good food, good humor and great prayer. I would like to thank the nearly 75 volunteers who helped with the event with a special thank-you to Chastity Opphile for organizing the meal, Dick Miller from Dick's Place for all his cooking and Baker's Foods for cooking the turkeys and donating the green beans.

It was also wonderful to have the local honor guard present and their generous donations on behalf of Journey's End.

In total, over $1,200 was raised for food purchases at the food pantry.
