The Trojans used a big first inning to come away with a 6-1 victory over the Tigers on Friday night in Inter-Valley Conference action.
J.C. Rine gave up just three hits and struck out 10 in picking up the complete game win.
Newcomerstown (7-14, 3-8 IVC) piled up five runs in the first inning for all they would need on the scoreboard. Paul Mathews and Rine both had a double and single apiece while Doug Dorsey laced two base hits. Mathews brought in two runs with his hits. Cameron Wolf cracked a double and had an RBI.
Josh Goedel took the mound loss for Strasburg (2-13, 1-10 IVC).

GNADENHUTTEN -- The Braves continued to dominate the Principals Athletic Conference with a 2-0 shut out of Fairless on Wednesday. The win puts Indian Valley at 10-0 in conference play and 16-2 overall.
Johnny Iacobucci got the mound win as he gave up one hit while striking out seven and walking just one. The only hit for the Falcons (9-8, 6-3 PAC) was a harmless single in the fourth inning.
On offense, Iacobucci had an RBI single while Alex Knecht bashed a double.

WEST LAFAYETTE -- The Cardinals shut out the Generals on Wednesday in Inter-Valley Conference action, 3-0.
Jeff Brothers got the win for Sandy Valley (16-2, 6-2 IVC) as he gave up just four hits.
The Cardinals got all of their runs in the fifth inning with two of them coming in on a Chris William's single.
Derek Young took the loss for Ridgewood (9-10, 6-4 IVC).

The Trojans rallied from three runs down in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings as they topped Strasburg, 5-4, in Inter-Valley Conference action on Wednesday.
Cameron Wolf crushed a double with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game.
Newcomerstown then scored on an error with two outs in the eighth.
Doug Dorsey got the win for the Trojans (6-14, 2-8 IVC) in relief of starter Ethan Miller.
Tyler Cookson took the loss for Strasburg, striking out one and walking two.
J.C. Rine led Newcomerstown with two singles and a double, followed by Dorsey and Wolf, each with doubles. Austin Hostetler led Strasburg with three singles.

J.C. Rine took the loss for the Trojans (5-14, 2-8 IVC) as he struck out three and walked two.
Greg Moomaw gave up five hits, struck out eight, and walked one for Garaway (12-5, 9-0 IVC).
Rine and Doug Dorsey each had doubles to lead Newcomerstown while Dorsey brought home an RBI.
Moomaw led the Pirate's 14-hit attack with two singles and a double. Brennan Mullet, Hunter Konkler and Marcus Troyer each had two singles.

NAVARRE -- Indian Valley knocked off Fairless on Tuesday in Principals Athletic Conference action.
The Braves, who are ranked fifth in Division III, were led by Zack Baker's three base hits and two RBIs. Adam Mizer laced two singles. Matt Wheeler got the pitching win for the Indian Valley (15-2, 9-0 PAC).
Shawn Mauger had two singles for Fairless (8-7, 5-2 PAC).

BERLIN -- The Hawks scored four runs in the fourth inning and then matched single runs the rest of the way for a 7-5 IVC win over Ridgewood on Tuesday.
Brett Marlatt crushed two home runs for the Generals (9-9, 6-3 IVC) but it wasn't enough to overcome Hiland. Kyle Bradford also smashed a home run and single while Derek Young connected on two base hits.
The Hawks (9-5, 5-2 IVC) were led at the plate by Andrew Schabach, who had a home run and single, and Luke Burch's two doubles.
