Ridgewood team takes first place
SUGARCREEK -- The Ridgewood boy's team took first place in the small school division at the Garaway-Donald Kopp Invitational last Saturday while Newcomerstown came in sixth.
The Generals scored 33 points while Sandy Valley was runner up with 63. The Trojans scored 199 points.
Ridgewood's Brad Olinger won top individual honors at he finished with a time of 17:37.91 followed by Alex Truax of Tuslaw (17:50). Coming in third was Sandy Valley's James O'Neill (18:19) while the General's Luke Feldner was fourth (18:33). Teammate Ryan Cunningham was sixth in 18:43. Other finishers for Ridgewood were Nathan Leavengood (11th- 19:26), Nigel Hackenbracht (23rd), Travis Schlabach (24th), and Daniel Burch (25th).
Jacob Everhart's 35th place finish in 21:01 paced Newcomerstown, followed by Brian Beckett (21:28-40th); Ethan Everhart (22:13-45th); Casey Dressler (22:29-50th); Matt Goodwin (22:42-51st).
In the boy's large school division, Elyria Catholic claimed the title while Indian Valley came in third. Sean Jones led the way for the Braves. Fairless runner Chase Robinson won in 16:16.
Elyria Catholic took the girls' team title with a score of 31, followed by Tuslaw in second with 55. Alexa Rick of Elyria Catholic took first place in 20:289 with Canton Timken's Amanda Belding was runner up in 21:51.
Newcomerstown's Amanda Perkins finished in 26:48, good for 28th place.
