Sandy Valley sweeps

Host Newcomerstown was swept by Sandy Valley on Monday, falling 25-12, 25-14, 25-16 in Inter-Valley Conference volleyball action.

Allison Snyder had 10 kills on the evening for the Trojans (7-13, 4-11 IVC) while Cydney McMillian recorded five kills. Krystin Raach recorded 14 assists and six points and Chelsea Bryant was good for six points. Andrea McWhorter added 11 digs and a pair of aces. Taylor Crossman contributed 16 digs while Erica Roberts had three blocks.

"We didn't play with a lot of aggressiveness," lamented Newcomerstown coach John Dupke. "We had a lot of passing errors and defensive errors. That hurt us."

Jenna Faiello scored 13 points for the Cardinals (13-5, 1-4 IVC).

Sandy Valley won the reserve match in three games.

Nc'town falls

BERLIN -- Playing two tough Inter-Valley Conference opponents on back-to-back nights proved too much for Newcomerstown as Hiland completed a three-game sweep by scores of 25-17, 25-15 and 25-12.

"We played very sluggish," Newcomerstown coach John Dupke said. "Playing Sandy Valley last night and Hiland tonight, we ran out of gas."

Taylor Crossman led the offense for the Lady Trojans (7-14, 4-12 IVC) with six points, while setter Krystin Raach handed out 14 assists. Defensively, Andrea McWhorter paced Newcomerstown with 16 digs, while Chelsea Bryant added 12. In net play, Allison Snyder had six kills and four blocks, while Bryant followed with five kills.

Andrea Mast had 12 points (5 aces) and 31 assists while Kendra Mast scored 12 points for the Hawks (17-4, 13-2 IVC).

Hiland won the reserve match in three games.

Indian Valley loses

NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Undefeated Tusky Valley scored an easy 25-8, 25-12, 25-13 win over Indian Valley on Tuesday in a Principals Athletic Conference match up.

Sarah Brown had 21 kills and 13 digs while Gabbie Davis scored 16 points to go with 33 assists for the Trojans (19-0, 13-0 PAC).

Tusky Valley won the reserve match in two games.

Ridgewood wins

WEST LAFAYETTE -- Ridgewood took down Sandy Valley on Tuesday in an Inter-Valley Conference match. Final scores were 25-19, 25-13, 20-25, and 25-15.

Maggie Nagle led the Generals (14-4, 11-4 IVC) with 25 points (4 aces) 10 kills, and 15 blocks. Kayla Tedrick scored 14 points (5 aces) to go with 30 assists as Kim Michael came through with nine kills and 12 blocks. Victoria Wiggin finished with 13 kills and 11 blocks while Lacey Berry had 10 digs.

Brittney Tindall had 12 kills for Sandy Valley (13-6, 10-5 IVC).

The Generals won the reserve match in two games.

Nc'town sweeps Harrison Central

Host Newcomerstown took care of business Thursday, sweeping Harrison Central 25-13, 25-15, 25-23 on Senior Night.

The three Lady Trojan seniors led the way with Kristin Raach recording 26 assists, Chelsea Bryant going 19-of-19 serving with 13 points (aces) and Andrea McWhorter getting 12 digs.

Also for the Trojans (8-14), Junior Erica Roberts had a career night, going 20-of-21 serving with 18 points (four aces) and 13 digs and Allison Snyder added 14 kills and five blocks.

"The play of the seniors was awesome tonight," stated Trojans' boss John Dupke. "I feel they stepped up as did the underclassmen and made it a great night. We jumped out in game one and pretty well led start to finish as in game two. In game three we lost our focus. We were down 21-12 at one point. I felt the seniors were vocal in a time-out saying 'we were only gong three' then we started our comeback."

Haley Harrison scored nine points and had nine assists for the Huskies (5-15).

Harrison Central won the reserve match in three games.

Central Catholic perfect

NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Central Catholic completed a perfect IVC season at 16-0 (19-1 overall) with a hard fought win over Ridgewood on Thursday, 25-21, 22-25, 25-14, and 28-26.

Maggie Nagle paced the Generals (14-5, 11-5 IVC) with 12 points (3 aces), six kills, and 11 blocks. Jordan Vaiea scored 10 points while Kayla Tedrick had eight points (3 aces), four blocks and 17 digs. Kim Michael added 11 blocks and seven kills. Lacey Berry came up with 14 digs and Victoria Wiggins knocked down eight blocks.

Molly Lawless led the Saints with 12 points and 24 kills for and Millie Patchan scored 10 points to go with 22 kills.

Central Catholic won in the reserve match in two games.

Indian Valley falls

GNADENHUTTEN -- Indian Valley fell in Principals Athletic Conference game to Manchester on Thursday, 25-14, 21-25, 25-20, and 25-15.

Jessy Shear had 12 kills and 22 digs while Mindy Bober scored nine points to lead the Braves (12-9, 9-5 PAC). Morgan Henderson finished with 29 assists while Chanda Page had 28 digs and 13 kills. Cierra Doane contributed four blocks.

Manchester won the reserve match in two games.
