Generals notch fifth shutout

CANTON -- The Ridgewood Lady Generals notched their fifth shutout of the season by defeating Canton South 3-0 last Saturday.

Freshman Kalynn Bluck scored the first goal of the match with 33:34 to play before halftime on a pass from Taylor Davis.

Roxanne Thursby made it 2-0 Ridgewood scoring on a breakaway with 17:32 remaining before intermission.

Anna Powell rounded out the scoring with 13:55 to play netting her first career goal for the Orange and Black.

The Generals outshot Canton South 13-2. Amanda Bible had one save for Ridgewood while Ashley Eckroate collected five for the Wildcats.

"Our midfield and defense did a great job of keeping the ball in our offensive third of the field," said General Coach Casey Claxon. "Katrina Philabaum, Sterling Wilkerson, and Mackenzie Bates were dynamite winning balls out of the air."

Generals win sixth shutout

WEST LAFAYETTE -- On Senior night, the Ridgewood girl's soccer team posted their sixth shutout of the season with a 1-0 victory over Dover. Senior forward Taylor Davis and senior midfielder Brittany Selders were recognized before their final home game at RHS.

After a scoreless first half, Paige Erb served a ball high into the box on a restart that bounced off the hands of Dover keeper, Alisha Walker. Freshman Kalynn Bluck collected the rebound and scored with 35:23 to play in the match. Ridgewood's defense took over from there.

"Our defense again did a great job denying shots and marking up," said General Coach Casey Claxon. "Nicole Hardesty and Jessica Olinger were great at defending the outside while Mackenzie Bates and Paige Erb took ownership of the middle."

Both teams managed five shots on goal. Amanda Bible made five saves in goal for Ridgewood and Walker had two saves for Dover.

Ridgewood improved to 6-3-2 while Dover dropped to 3-9-2.
