Coming out of the gates with a hot start, the Lady Trojans routed Inter-Valley Conference foe Malvern at home Wednesday, 67-35.

Newcomerstown (7-10, 6-8 IVC) blew the Lady Hornets out of the water in the first half, as they headed into the intermission with a commanding 41-17 lead.

Five players scored for the Lady Trojans in the first quarter, featuring a pair of three-pointers from Allie Hinton. The second frame was even better for Newcomerstown, as it racked up 22 more points using six-point performances from Chelsea Fenton and Steph Felton.

The hosts outscored Malvern 26-18 in the final half to secure the victory.

Field-goal percentage was in favor of the hosts, as they buried 26-of-54 (48 percent) of their shot.  

Fenton led four Lady Trojans in double figures with 17 points while grabbing 10 of her team’s 24 rebounds. Felton tacked on 13 points; Hinton pumped in 11; and Kori Conner 10.

Malvern (3-14, 1-12 IVC) was led by Christina Mayle with 14 markers.

The Hornets won the reserve game, 48-44.

Garaway beats Ridgewood

SUGARCREEK — Garaway handed Ridgewood a 43-25 setback on Wednesday in Inter-Valley Conference action. 

The loss dropped the Lady Generals to 9-4 in league play and 13-4 overall, while the Lady Pirates went to 11-2 IVC and 13-4 overall.

Garaway pushed its way to a 14-6 first quarter lead that closed to 21-17 by halftime. 

But the Lady Pirates surged in the third quarter with a 13-2 advantage that made it 34-19 as the final frame began. The hosts won the fourth quarter, 9-6.

Courtney Babcock was lead scorer for the Lady Generals with nine points. Kayla Tedrick knocked down seven points while Kelsey Miller came through with six. Kristen Troyer topped Garaway with 12 tallies. 

Ridgewood made 8-of-27 shots from the floor and 8-of-12 from the line. Garaway was 15-of-28 from the field and 9-of-10 at the stripe.

Manchester defeats Indian Valley 

AKRON — Manchester defeated Indian Valley 57-30 in a Principals Athletic Conference game on Wednesday. 

The Lady Panthers roared to a 31-9 halftime lead and were never challenged the rest of the game.

Courtney Emler was lead scorer for the Lady Braves with seven points while Samantha Ohler had six points and Kallie Garbrandt scored five. 

Amber Silver led the Lady Panthers with 21 points and 11 rebounds.

Lady Generals roll past Nc’town

WEST LAFAYETTE — Behind a pair of 11-point scorers, the host Ridgewood Lady Generals rolled to a 41-29 Inter-Valley Conference victory over Newcomerstown on Saturday afternoon.

Courtney Babcock and Kayla Tedrick paced the Lady Generals’ scoring attack with 11 points each and Maggie Nagle was close behind with nine markers.

Ridgewood took the lead the opening quarter by out scoring the visitors 10-3, but the Lady Trojans rebounded in the second period for a 7-4 scoring edge, cutting the difference to 14-10 by halftime.

The Lady Generals (12-3, 9-3 IVC) controlled both second half frames with scoring advantages of 11-8 and 16-11 to capture the win.

Chelsea Fenton and Allie Hinton led the Lady Trojans (6-10, 5-8 IVC) with eight points each as Newcomerstown cashed in on 9-of-29 floor shots, converted 8-of-15 charity tosses, but suffered from 19 turnovers.

Ridgewood hit 12-of-33 field shots and added 13-of-23 from the foul line. Kelsey Miller and Alaynee Wright added six and four points, respectively. The Lady Generals committed just six miscues.

Newcomerstown posted a 24-21 rebounding advantage, led by Kori Conner with eight boards. 

The Generals won the reserve game, 36-32.

Lady Braves fall to Claymont

GNADENHUTTEN — Indian Valley led much of the game but couldn’t pull out the win as the Lady Braves fell to Claymont, 46-40, in a non-conference game last Saturday. 

The Lady Braves were ahead 29-26 as the fourth quarter began but the Lady Mustangs (8-9) went on a 20-11 tear to win going away.

Jessica Knisely fired in 12 points to lead Indian Valley (0-17). Taryn Deetz had a solid all-around game with nine points, six rebounds and five steals.

Kayleigh Larson paced Claymont with 15 points while Makenzie Ripley scored 13.
