STRASBURG The Trojans had no answers for a stingy Strasburg defense on Friday as they fell to their Inter-Valley Conference rivals, 35-0.

Newcomerstown could only muster 157 yards of offense, including 56 yards on the ground and 78 through the air. Meanwhile, the Tigers were amassing 205 yards rushing and 103 aerial stripes for a total of 308.

The Tigers did all of their damage in the first quarter as they piled up 28 points while shutting out their visitors.

Senior Hunter Schneiter was the big man on the gridiron for Strasburg (5-3, 3-1 IVC) as he scored four of his teams five touchdowns. In the first quarter alone Schneiter crossed the goal line on runs of two and 43 yards, then did so on the other side of the ball from his linebacker position by returning an interception for 65 yards.

Landry Hostetler added the other Tiger score in the first frame on a six-yard run.

Schneiter closed out scoring on the night with a 25-yard scamper in the second period. Dan Kohr booted all five of the extra point attempts.

Schneiter finished with 83 yards on seven carries while Kalib Winters had 92 yards on 14 carries. QB Ryan Froman was 9-for-16 for 103 yards and no interceptions.

For Newcomerstown (3-5, 1-3 IVC), quarterback Austin Zufelt finished 11-for-21 for 78 yards and had three interceptions. While both teams fumbled five times between them, neither lost possession. The Tigers led in first downs, 12-9.
