HEATH Newcomerstown fought its way to a third place finish out of seven teams at the Robin Drumm Classic at Heath High School on Saturday. Ridgewood was right behind in fourth place.

The Trojans tallied 221 points to come in behind first place Tri-Valley (392) and runner-up Highland (277). Rounding out the top five were the Generals (201) and Brookhaven (180).

Mitchell Meeks led the Trojan effort with a first place finish comprised of a perfect 5-0 mark at 182 pounds, while Alan Hayhurst compiled a 4-1 mark to claim second at 120 pounds. A trio of Newcomerstown grapplers finished with third place showings with 3-2 marks, including Cole McVay (132), Jason Garlando (145) and Trae Garlando (160). Zack McKibben (113) went 1-3 on the day to grab fourth place along with Chase Eggleston (152), who was 2-3.

For Ridgewood, Jake Zeigler won the 160-pound title and was crowned Most Valuable Wrestler for the tournament.

Also for the Generals, Garrett Bethel (152) and Cole Zeigler (120) earned first place finishes while Phillip Shannon (138) came in second.

Indian Valley 37, West Holmes 33

GNADENHUTTEN With his team trailing 33-31 heading into the final match of the night, the Braves Logan Ridgway knew what he had to do, and did it. Ridgeway pinned Tyler Singleton in the heavyweight match to lift his team to a 37-33 win over West Holmes on Wednesday.

Four straight wins including Ridgways propelled Indian Valleys comeback for the non-conference dual meet win over the Knights.

Also scoring pins for the Braves (13-7) were Austin Western (132), Darran Warner (126), and Dakota Smith (120).

Other Indian Valley winners included Logan Ryan (138) with an 8-0 major decision over Zach Mullett, Dominic Bell (182) won 6-3 over Matt Schelgel, Dalton Farrow (195) took down Grason Miller 5-3, and Ben Aponik (220) knocked off Raymond ODonnell 10-6.
