Coshocton 4,

Ridgewood 2

WEST LAFAYETTE -- Coshocton rode a strong pitching effort by Dyson Bowman to a 4-2 victory over Ridgewood in the Division III Sectional on the Generals field Monday.

Ridgewooods C.J. Grove belted a two-run home run in the first inning, but that was all the scoring the Generals would muster against Bowman. The Redskin hurler finished with nine strikeouts.

Coshocton, limited to three hits in the first four innings by Ridgewood hurler Trent Lingo, finally got the clutch hits it needed in the fifth inning.

Lingo got the first two batters out before Hayden Cantrell singled to left field to start the rally. Evan Johnson sent Cantrell to third with a double, bringing up Isaiah Jackson, who hit a sharp grounder to short and beat out Zak Keesees throw to first allowing Cantrell to score and Johnson to advance to third. Johnson later scored on a balk, caused by Jackson stealing second. Jackson later scored on an RBI single from Dylan Ogle, giving Coshocton a 3-2 lead.

The Redskins (12-17) added another run in the sixth when Cantrell hit a two-out, RBI-single scoring Josh Helbling.

Ridgewood (16-9) threatened to come back twice in the game. The Generals loaded the bases with one out in the fourth, but Bowman got Scot Dawson and Landon Smith both to pop out to end the inning.

The Generals again loaded the bases in the fifth, but Bowman got out of trouble again with a flyout to center.

In the ninth, Bowman got two quick outs, but hit Keesee and gave up a single to Grove. Jacob Bone then hit a sharp grounder to Johnson at short, and Johnson threw out Grove at second to end the game.
