The Ridgewood Lady Generals stepped out of conference last Saturday, and came away with a 25-25, 25-18, 25-12 road triumph over Meadowbrook.

Ridgewood (3-0) got key contributions from a number of players. Laura Crawford had an impressive match with nine kills, five blocks, 10 assists and 11 digs. Amanda Lowery finished with five kills and a dozen blocks. Setter Victoria Wiggins dished out 25 assists to go along with half a dozen kills. Abbey Youngen added 17 digs. Allie Dobson added five kills and eight blocks. Kelsey Miller chipped with nine kills and nine blocks.

"Our blockers did a great job of getting hands on balls," commented veteran coach Dan Smith. "This win was a total team effort. Everyone contributed and had to because Meadowbrook pushed us."

ZANESVILLE -- Newcomerstown High picked up win number one of the season last Saturday, rolling past host Zanesville Rosecrans in three straight games by scores of 25-9, 25-4, 25-13.

Leading the Lady Trojans' charge was Kara Jenkins with 25 points, including 13 aces along with 15 digs, while Cydney McMillan chipped in with 12 kills and four blocks for the winners. Alicia Moore finished with 17 assists for the Lady Trojans (1-2).

ZOARVILLE -- Host Tusky Valley claimed a three-set win over the visiting Indian Valley Lady Braves by scores of 25-8, 28-26 and 25-16 on Tuesday.

For Indian Valley (1-3, 1-2 PAC) Whitney Garbrandt tallied seven points and handed out seven assists, while Sydney Kandray added nine assists. Defensively, Harlie Crouse recorded nine digs and in net play, Ashley Reynolds and Danara Lamonica each hammered seven kills and Reynolds added six digs.

In junior varsity action, Tusky Valley won in two sets by identical scores of 25-21 in both sets.

WEST LAFAYETTE -- Tuscarawas Central Catholic invaded Ridgewood and posted a 3-1 Inter-Valley Conference volleyball victory by scores of 25-16, 25-23, 23-25 and 25-17 on Tuesday.

Leading the Lady Generals of Ridgewood (3-1, 2-1 IVC) was Laura Crawford with seven points, 15 kills, five blocks, 10 assists and 10 digs. Erika Michael added eight points with two aces and 15 digs, Victoria Wiggins tallied three points, slammed seven kills added four blocks and dished out 24 assists. Abbey Youngen added four points and 18 digs while Kelsey Miller chipped in with six points (one ace), 13 kills, four blocks and eight digs.

In junior varsity play, Tuscarawas Central Catholic won in two sets by scores of 25-8 and 25-13 to dropped the young Lady Generals to 1-3, 1-2 IVC.

GNADENHUTTEN -- Host Indian Valley evened its volleyball record in the Principals' Athletic Conference at 2-2 with a straight three-set win over visiting Tuslaw Thursday by scores of 25-21, 25-16 and 25-21.

The Lady Braves (2-3 overall) was led in scoring by Devin Bell with eight points, while Sydney Kandray dished out 14 assists. Ashley Reynolds hammered 22 kills and added one block, while Danara Lamonica added 11 kills.

The Indian Valley junior varsity also won in three sets by scores of 25-19, 18-25 and 25-22 to improve to 4-1 on the season.

NEWCOMERSTOWN -- Visiting Tuscarawas Central Catholic remained at the top of the Inter-Valley Conference team standings with a straight three-set win over the host Newcomerstown Lady Trojans by scores of 25-11, 25-7 and 25-16 on Thursday.

The big gun for the Lady Saints (4-2, 4-0 IVC) was Anna Thompson, who tallied 22 points, including 15 in the second set with a number of aces although the visitors suffered from a number of service errors.

Newcomerstown (1-3, 0-3 IVC) was led by Alyson Rexroad with three points and one ace, while Alisha Moore had two assists. Cydney McMillan collected three kills and 10 digs.

SARAHSVILLE -- Newcomerstown High earned a split in prep volleyball action on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Trojans dropped a 25-18, 25-15 decision to host Shenandoah High in their first match of the day.

Cydney McMillan led NHS with 12 kills, while Alisha Moore added nine assists and three points. Aeriel Green contributed seven digs and Kara Jenkins finished with four points and three kills.

Newcomerstown rallied to pick up a 23-25, 25-15, 25-14 win over Philo High.

Alyson Rexroad was red-hot from the service line for the Lady Trojans (2-4), racking up 15 points, with 10 aces and five digs. McMillan chipped in with 18 kills, eight points and seven aces, while Jenkins finished with seven kills and eight kills. Alisha Moore handed out 14 assists and Karlee Peach chipped in with 13 assists and nine points.

SOUTH ZANESVILLE -- Ridgewood High recorded a pair of volleyball wins in non-league volleyball action on Saturday.

The Lady Generals opened the day with a 25-23, 25-18 win over Maysville.

Abbey Youngen led the Lady Generals with eight points and six digs; Victoria Wiggins added five points, four kills and nine assists; Laura Frazee chipped in with five points and two kills; Laura Crawford adding four points, three kills, two blocks; Kelsey Miller tallied four kills, four blocks and Amanda Lowery finished with three kills and three blocks.

RHS then took care of Canal Winchester by scores of 26-24, 25-13 to finish 2-0.

Erika Michael racked up seven points, four digs; Miller had seven points, five kills and four blocks; Youngen tallied seven points, five digs; Frazee finished with four points and two kills; Lowery added three kills and four blocks; and Wiggins dished out 11 assists.

GNADENHUTTEN -- Indian Valley High picked up three wins in quad action on Saturday with Carrollton, Garaway and Coshocton.

The Lady Braves upended Carrollton by scores of 25-17, 25-27 and 25-23 to open the days' action.

Sydney Kandray led IV with 12 points and 14 assists, while Ashley Reynolds added 13 kills, three blocks and 12 digs for the winners.

Up next the Lady Braves rolled past the Lady Pirates by scores of 25-10 and 25-14 with Reynolds picking up nine kills, five blocks and five digs and Devin Bell added 11 points. Kandray finished with 11 assists, while Harlie Crouse chipped in with eight digs and Mallory Roth tallied six kills.

To wrap up the successful day, it was Indian Valley (5-3) slipping past Coshocton by final scores of 25-22 and 25-22 with Reynolds once again filling up the stat sheet with nine kills, two blocks and nine digs. Alli Martinelli contributed seven points and Bailey Stull handed out 12 assists.
