WEST LAFAYETTE -- Host Ridgewood High used a big second quarter to push past Tuscarawas Central Catholic by a 34-7 final score in Inter-Valley Conference action on Friday night.
Garrett Bethel's 16-yard scoring run had staked the Generals to a 6-0 lead after the first quarter of play, before the Orange and Black really kicked the offense in high gear in the second stanza.
Bethel got things rolling with his second TD run of the night, this one coming on a short five-yard jaunt with 8:52 left in the second period for a 13-0 RHS lead. Minutes later Bret Mitchell reached paydirt on a 15-yard scamper at the 6:09 mark to push the Generals' advantage out to 20-0. To cap the scoring frenzy, the Generals went to the airwaves with quarterback Ryan Lowe hitting Dillon McPherson with an eight-yard TD pass to give the host a 27-0 halftime lead.
The visiting Saints got on the board in the third quarter for the only points in the frame, with Michael Lawless scoring with a seven-yard run at the 9:13 mark of the quarter to pull within 27-7.
Ridgewood closed the night's scoring when Lowe and McPherson hooked up for a second time, this scoring play just covering one yard with just 3:35 left in the game.
Bethel finished with 128 yards on 19 tries, while Seth Bergeron chipped in with 52 yards in six carries. Lowe enjoyed a good night throwing the football, hitting on 12-of-14 passes for 125 yards with a pair of TD passes with McPherson hauling in six receptions for 39 yards with two TDs.
T.C.C. was paced by Lawless with 95 yards in 27 attempts and connected on 12-of-32 passes for another 111 yards.
