Host Newcomerstown High and Ridgewood High posted fairly strong performances in Friday's Inter Valley Conference Track and Field Championships. In the boys' meet, the Trojans placed third and Ridgewood fifth. In the girls' meet, the Lady Trojans took fourth and the Lady Generals came in at sixth.
The boys' team scoring included: 1. Sandy Valley 153, 2. Garaway 145, 3. Newcomerstown 104, 4. Tuscarawas Catholic 76, 5. Ridgewood 65, 6. Hiland 54, 7. Strasburg 46, 8. Malvern 14.
The girls' team scoring included: 1. Garaway 147, 2. Sandy Valley 120, 3. Malvern 90, 4. Newcomerstown 79, 5. Strasburg 72, 6. Ridgewood 66, 7. Tusky Catholic 49, 8. Hiland 22.
In the boys' meet, the only Newcomerstown win came in the 4x100 relay (46.10) where the group of Bril Dansby, Bret Burrier, Austin Trzop and Chandler Shryock prevailed.
A whole host of Trojans amassed points in individual events. They were Shryock (100 hurdles/2nd/16.0 and 300 hurdles/2nd/41.80), Dylan Little (110 hurdles/4th/16.2 and 300 hurdles/7th/46.00), Dansby (100 meters/t3rd/12.0), Devin Croft (400 meters/6th/58.2), Collen Mozena (400 meters/8th/1:00.4), Dylan Anderson (200 meters/5th/24.5), Nate Marinucci (3200/6th/10:50.9), Tristen Durr (discus/3rd/137-6 and shot put/3rd/42-2.5), Josh Deal (discus/4th/129-0), Steven Poe (high jump/5th/5-4 and long jump/2nd/19-3.5), Burrier (pole vault/2nd/12-0) and Logan Lehman (pole vault/5th/11-0), Marcus McVey (shot/5th/41-01.00).
The 4x800 relay team of Brent Heishman, Daniel Lovrinic, Gage Miller and Braden Taylor placed eighth (9:57.4).
The 4x200 group of Dansby, Austin King, Mozena and Anderson took fourth (1:44.2) while the quartet of Lovrinic, Mozena, Little and Croft placed sixth in the 4x400 (3:46.5).
While no Ridgewood boy won an event, a slew of points were gained in the individual events by the following : Garrett Foster (110 hurdles/t7th/19.40), Austin Leasure (110 hurdles/t7th/19.40), Billy Bailey (100 meters/t3rd/12.00 and 200/4th/24.40), Thor Reed (1600/t5th/4:47.60 and 800/7th/2:12.10), Cole Lillibridge (300 hurdles/6th/45.70), Matt Saylor (800/8th/2:14.70), Tevis Whitt (200 meters/t6th/24.60 and long jump/16-06.00), Travis Vickers (3200/8th/11:22.90), Art Jarrett (long jump/6th/18-00.25), Blake Feldner (shot/4th/41-06.50), Lindy McConnell (pole vault/7th/9-06.00), Nathan Schwartz (pole vault/t8th/9-00.00).
The 4x800 relay group of Saylor, Phillip Shannon, Derek Ridenour and Travis Vickers finished sixth (9:13.10). Bailey, DJ Varian, Lillibridge and Whitt combined to finish third in the 4x100 (46.50). In the 4x400 event, the quartet of Shannon, Saylor, Reed and Jarrett finished fifth (3:46.20).
In the girls' meet, a bevy of Lady Trojans helped pile up points. In individual events, the following scored: Ashley Wheeler (100 meter hurdles/2nd/17.4 and 300 meter hurdles/3rd/52.3), Kaseana Gandy (100 meters/7th/14.2 and 200 meters/t4th/29.3), Alexes Sanders (400 meters/3rd/1:04.0 and 200 meters/t4th/29.3), McKaila Goodwin (800 meters/8th/2:52.5), Krista McVey (discus/2nd/106-2 and shot put/5th/29-9), Tamara Lazette (discus/6th/86-11), Erin Burrier (high jump/t4th/4-6 and pole vault/6th/7-0), Cydney McMillan (long jump/5th/14-3.5 and pole vault/2nd/9-6), Paige McMullen (long jump/7th/13-9.5), Tamara Lazette (shot/7th/28-04.50).
A pair of relay teams also pointed. Sanders, Goodwin, Ashley Wheeler and Mozena placed fifth in the 4x400 (4:39.9). In the 4x200, it was Sanders, Goodwin, Kasena Gandy and Wheeler placing fourth (1:58.8).
Ridgewood point producers were numerous. They included Hollie Schwab (100 hurdles/3rd/17.90), Alexis Perkins (100 hurdles/8th/19.80 and 300 hurdles/t6th/59.00)), Victoria Wiggins (100/2nd/13.70 and high jump/t2nd/4-08.00), Kristin Milligan (1600/8th/6:49.20), Jessika McCoun (400/2nd/1:02.20), Cora Thompson (300 hurdles/t6th/59.00), Mackenzie Bates (discus/8th/80-02 and shot/8th/27-09.50), Holly McCoy (high jump/t4th/4-06.00).
The Lady Generals also fared well in the relay events. The 4x200 group of Schwab, McCoun, Stormie Curry and Wiggins placed second (1:55.30). Schwab, McCoun, Laura Crawford and Wiggins took second in the 4x100 (54.50). The 4x400 quartet of Curry, Schwab, Amanda Lowery and McCoun captured a sixth (4:42.40). Lastly, the 4x800 team consisting of Joanna Eberwine, Milligan, Winter Preston and Roni Roberts placed fifth (14:50.00).

MASSILLON -- Tuslaw High School hosted the 2013 PAC Track and Field Championships on Friday with Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy dominating the boys' meet and Triway eking out a title in the girls' meet.
The final boys' standings included: 1. CVCA 183.5, 2. Tusky Valley 100, 3. Triway 91.5, 4t. Manchester 82, 4t. Fairless 82, 6. Indian Valley 51.5, 7. Tuslaw 40, 8. Canton Timken 28.5.
The final girls' standings included: 1. Triway 159, 2. CVCA 156, 3. Tusky Valley 106, 4. Indian Valley 74, 5. Fairless 67, 6. Manchester 50, 7. Tuslaw 32, 8. Timken 10.5.
In the girls' meet, Indian Valley athletes scoring points in individual events were as follows: Paige Saho (400 meters/5th/1:03.3 and 800 meters/5th/2:31), Emily Baker (100 meters/t7th/14.0 and 100 hurdles/3rd/16.8), Emily Probert (800 meters/7th/2:37), Tawney Ault (1600 meters/8th/6:10), Courtney Emler (400 meters/2nd/47.6), Alicia Jenkins (400/4th/48.0), Ashley Reynolds (shot put/3rd/35-10 and discus/3rd/102-9), Joy Lynn (high jump/t7th/4-6), Ashlynn Stull (long jump/8th/13-11.5), Kaitlyn Hursey (pole vault/8th/7-6).
In addition, all four Lady Braves' relay teams scored points. Baker, Hursey, Jenkins and Emler cruised to a second place in the 4x200 (1:52.00). Also earning runner-up points was the group of Ault, Probert, Emler and Saho in the 4x800 (10:18.00). Finishing third in the 4x400 (4:19.10) were Jenkins, Probert, Emler and Saho. Finally, the quartet of Maddy Azzardi, Hursey, Maddy Miles and Baker placed sixth in the 4x100 (55.6).
In the boys' meet, Travis Olinger earned points in a pair of events, placing fourth in the 100 meters (11.5) and fifth in the 200 meters (23.9).
Teammate Ryan Pastercak posted the best Brave finish, taking second in the 110 hurdles (15.4). Others earning points were Bailey McBeth (3200/8th/10:57.5), Dan Johnson (300 hurdles/6th/43.4), Justin Martinelli (discus/3rd/127-04.00), Will Love (discus/119-8) and Justen Copley (pole vault/7th/11-0).
Three relay teams also tallied points. The quartet of Olinger, Jay Elliott, Johnson and Pastercak took third in the 4x100 (45.5); Will Love, Alec Love, Austin Menefee and Ross Love combined to place seventh in the 4x400 (3:09.1); and Evan Menefee, McBeth, Austin Menefee and Colin Border finished fifth in the 4x800 (9:22).

NEW PHILADELPHIA -- At the Tuscarawas County Classic track and field meet Monday, Indian Valley three individuals and a relay team turn in winning times.
For the Lady Braves, Emily Baker won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of :16.72, while Courtney Emler claimed first place in the 300-meter hurdles with a winning time of :47.93, while Allicia Jenkins followed in second place with a time of :48.53. The 3x200-meter relay squad of Baker, Kaitlyn Hursey, Allicia Jenkins and Emler won with a time of 1:51.49. Paige Saho finished second in the 1600-meter run in 5:29.05 and the 4x400-meter relay squad of Jenkins, Emily Probert, Smler and Saho was second in 4:17.11.
In the boys' events, the lone Indian Valley winner was Ryan Pastercak in the 110-meter hurdles with a winning time of :15.91.
Leading Newcomerstown with a second place finish in the pole vault was Sydney McMillan with a vault of 9-6 and Krista McVey was second in the discus with a toss of 104-01. Chandler Shryock was second in the 110-meter hurdles in :16.01, while Tristen Durr was second in the discus with a heave of 125-10.
