CANTON -- Junior Jabril Dansby rambled for 387 yards on 16 carries and scored four touchdowns to lead the visiting Newcomerstown Trojans to a 37-14 win over East Canton in an Inter-Valley Conference clash on Friday.
The Trojans spotted East Canton an early first quarter score with Scott Lewis dashing 50 yards to paydirt and Bryce Moldovan added the point-after kick for a 7-0 lead.
Dansby then broke loose and scampered 70 yards for his first TD of the night still in the opening round and Austin King pulled the Trojans even at 7-7 with his PAT kick.
Cody Hall then plowed in from the one and King's extra-point put the visitors in front to stay at 14-7.
Dansby then tacked on another first quarter tally with a four-yard run, but the PAT attempt was blocked providing the Trojans a 20-7 lead going to the second round.
Dansby then scored a pair of second quarter TDs, the first on an 80-yard jaunt and the second on a 35-yard run with King adding both extra-points to up the Newcomerstown lead to 34-7 before the halftime break.
East Canton cut into the deficit before the intermission, with Brandon Cassidy hauling in a 45-yard scoring strike from quarterback Clay Libertore and the Moldovan PAT sent the teams to the locker room with the Trojans sporting a 34-14 advantage.
The lone score of the second half was a 32-yard field goal by Newcomerstown's King in the third round to provide the 37-14 final.
Newcomerstown (4-3, 2-2 IVC) rolled up 510 yards of offense, gaining 444 on the ground and adding 56 via the airways. Jason Garlando added four carries for 27 yards and Hall had nine for 19 markers and the one TD. Austin Zufelt completed 5-of-8 passes for 66 yards. Hall had three catches for 47 yards and King added the other two grabs for 19 yards.
East Canton (2-5, 1-3 IVC) picked up 163 yards on the ground led by Cassidy with nine carries for 71 yards while Lewis added 57 yards on just two tries. The hosts added 160 yards passing, with Libertore completing 12-of-20 passes and the one TD. Cassidy paced the receiver corps with two grabs for 47 yards while Buzzy Faheem added 39 yards on three catches and Lewis had two receptions for 36 yards.
