NEWCOMERSTOWN -- Jibril Dansby ran for 205 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead the host Newcomerstown Trojans to a 42-7 Inter-Valley Conference win over the visiting Tuscarawas Central Catholic Saints on Friday to keep the Trojans' playoff hopes alive in Division VI, Region 19.
The Trojans jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter, with Dansby running in from 15 yards out and Austin King booting the extra-point.
Junior quarterback Austin Zufelt the scrambled for a 46-yard scoring jaunt for Newcomerstown's second TD, but the PAT kick failed to split the uprights.
Dansby garnered his second score in the second round with an eight-yard run and Cody Hall rambled 11 yards for another Trojan TD sandwiched around the Saints' lone score of the game, an 11-yard scoring scamper by quarterback Max Fragasse.
King booted the extra-point on the first Newcomerstown TD and Zufelt ran in for the two-point conversion on the second, while Lee added the PAT kick for the Saints to send the teams to the locker room at halftime with the Trojans firmly in control of a 28-7 score.
Newcomerstown (5-4, 3-3 IVC) tacked on solo scores in each of the final two frames to provide the 42-7 final.
Dansby garnered his third score of the night as he rambled eight yards to the end zone in the third stanza and King split the uprights with the point-after to up the margin to 35-7.
In the last 12 minutes, Jason Galando added the final six-pointer with a five-yard scoring run and Tristen Durr kicked the PAT to provide the 42-7 final.
The Trojans rolled up 346 rushing yards and added 68 via the airways for a 414 total. Dansby led the way on the ground with his 205 yards, with Zufelt adding 77 yards on five carries and Hall 45 yards on eight totes. Zufelt was 3-of-8 through the air for the 68 yards with King hauling in two passes for 47 yards and Hall caught the other accounting for 16 yards.
Tuscarawas Central Catholic (4-5, 2-4 IVC) picked up 107 yards rushing and added 158 passing yards for 265 total yards. Fragasse led the ground game with 65 yards on just six carries while Jordan Griffin added 42 yards on an equal number of carries.
Fragasse was 14-of-27 passing for 140 yards, while Cade Cummings completed 4-of-7 aerials for an additional 18 yards. Michael Teater paced the receiver corps with three catches for 44 yards with Danny Price hauling in three passes for 39 yards. John Burley had five grabs for 28 yards with Cummings catching four for 23 yards and Adam Price three for 23 yards.
