NAVARRE -- Indian Valley's Jake Davis continues to amass yardage, rushing 30 times for 163 yards and scoring three times Friday to lead the Braves to a 36-15 Principals Athletic Conference win over the host Fairless Falcons.

Davis has now amassed 6,595 career rushing yards and remains in 10th place in all-time Ohio rushers.

The win keeps Indian Valley (7-2, 5-1 PAC) in the thick of things in search of an OHSAA Division IV playoff berth.

The Braves are currently eighth in Region 13 where four teams have clinched berths heading into Week 10 while six others, including Indian Valley, are alive for the four remaining spots.

Following a scoreless opening quarter, Davis got Indian Valley on the scoreboard with 4:38 left in the first half on a two-yard plunge and Ross Love upped the lead to 7-0 with the extra-point kick.

Fairless answered with Hunter Napier pulling in a Christian Simmons 27-yard pass for a TD with 1:06 remaining in the opening half, but the PAT kick attempt failed preserving a 7-6 Indian Valley lead.

It didn't take the Braves long to answer, with Davis scampering seven yards to paydirt with just 25 ticks left on the clock. Love's PAT boot upped the margin to 14-6 going to the halftime break.

The Panthers narrowed the gap early in the third round ,with Austin Weyandt on the receiving end of a 26-yard Simmons scoring strike, and this time the run failed as Fairless pulled within 14-12 at the 10:46 juncture of the third frame.

Davis then collected his third TD of the night on a one-yard run with 5:09 left in the third quarter and the Love PAT kick upped the difference to 21-12.

Trent Garver then split the uprights on a 22-yard field goal for the Panthers to cut the deficit to 21-15 going to the final 12 minutes.

The final stanza belonged to the Braves, with senior quarterback Caden McGuire tossing a pair of scoring aerials.

The first was a 15-yard strike to Brady Cotsmire with 8:38 remaining and Davis converted the two-point conversion with a run to the end zone.

The second TD pass from McGuire went to Will Love and covered six yards with 1:50 still to go and Joshua Thorton split the uprights with the extra-point kick to provide the PAC win for the Braves.

Indian Valley picked up 216 yards on 46 rushing attempts and added 189 yards passing, with McGuire a near-perfect 11-of-13 passing with no interceptions.

Ross Love led Indian Valley receivers with eight catches for 160 yards, with Cotsmire adding the one TD catch of 15 yards while Will Love had the other scoring aerial for six yards.

The Braves were hit with eight penalties for 82 yards and it was Cotsmire who picked off the interception.

Fairless (6-3, 4-2 PAC) gained just 44 yards on the ground on 19 tries, but Simmons completed 16-of-29 passes for an additional 225 yards with the one interception.

Jeremy Mahaffey paced the ground attack with eight carries for 36 yards while Napier led the receiving corps with five receptions for 99 yard including the 27-yard scoring grab.

The Falcons were flagged five times for 40 yards, abd neither team fumbled the football.
