PICKERINGTON -- Two local runners -- Newcomerstown High freshman Brittney Roth and Indian Valley sophomore Trevor Ault - have qualified for this week's OHSAA State Cross Country Championships.

Newcomerstown's Roth turned in a fourth place effort in the girls' Division III race wit a clocking of 19:56.68 over the 5K course while Indian Valley's Ault was 16th in the boys' Division II event.

The Indian Valley boys' team just missed qualifying for the state meet, finishing in fifth place with 166 points (only the top four teams advance). In addition to Ault, other IV boys' times included sophomore Cody Booth (43rd, 17:49.33); freshman Hunter Probert (45th, 17:55.38); junior Mitchell Giffen (56th, 18:09.31); sophomore Clay Riddle (67th, 18:21.46); sophomore Mitchell Troyer (103rd, 19:06.89) and junior Collin Border (105th, 19:08.56).

The Indian Valley girls were 12th with 249 points. The Lady Braves competing included sophomore Shannon Regula (20th, 20:44.48); junior Tawney Ault (30th, 21:18.06); sophomore Celina Mayforth (54th, 22:18.67); senior Lauren Long (99th, 23:58.03); junior Maddison Miles (103rd, 24:13.95); sophomore Alexis Pasquinelli (107th, 224:29.60) and freshman Mikayla Baker (115th, 25:02.79).

The top four teams in D-III girls were Garaway (40), Reedsville Eastern (88), Mount Gilead (94) and Columbus Academy (107).

Garaway junior Rachel Wentworth won the individual tile in 19:10.41.

The top four teams in D-III boys were Garaway (41), Fredericktown (72), Leesburg Fairfield (97) and Mount Gilead (109).

The top four teams in D-II girls were Athens (32), Morgan (114), Dover (150) and Carrollton (174).

Senior Elyse Black of Jackson was the individual winner in 19:15.32.

The top four teams in D-II boys were Sheridan (69), Piketon (74), River View (108) and Unioto (117).

Unioto junior David Magda was the race winner in 16:20.53.

NEXT-- The two local qualifiers will compete in the OHSAA State Cross Country Championships on Saturday at National Trail Raceway in Pataskala.
